A series of three-week fun & relaxed workshops that go right back to basics. Looking at techniques, drawing guidelines, rules & practicing how to use a variety of mediums.

How do I draw that?

A three week course on exploring ways to capture images/subjects on paper. Using a variety of drawing mediums.

How do I paint that in watercolour?
31/1, 7/2, 14/2, Wednesday afternoons 2 - 4pm
Looking at a mix of subjects we will explore the different forms of watercolour available and what works best for different items.

How do I do that in pastels?

Exploring the various forms that pastels are available in, we will create a selection of pictures, deciding which form works best for each subject.

How do I paint that in oils?

On this course we will aim to create two oil paintings, one using the Flemish method of underpainting in tones first, and secondly using the 'Alla Prima' method of 'wet into wet'.

Note that this course is just two weeks and costs £40.00.
We will create a paintng over two weeks, using underpainting and layering techniques with this versatile medium.

Three weeks of exploring the possibilities of inks from their subtle sepia tones to their bright intense colours. We will look at a variety of subjects.

How do I create an abstract painting?

Creating an abstract painting is not as easy as you think. We need to have a plan, a starting point from which to develop an idea. Over this three week course, working in mixed media, we will explore some processes to enable some understanding of this genre.

How do I create a portrait in two sessions?
18/9, 25/9 - Wednesday afternoons 2 - 4pm
Note that this course is just two weeks and costs £40.00.
Using a variety of mediums we will look at the rules around portraiture and capturing the human face. We will explore ways to create life-like images of famous faces.

How do I create a print?

Over this three week course we will explore some simple printing techniques to create a selection of images to be used for card designs or framed and given as gifts.
